  • Boat trips from Girvan to Ailsa Craig (a dormant volcano arising from the sea)
  • A day trip to the Isle of Arran is another option (Ardrossan ferry terminal is 40 miles away)
  • Stranraer (ferry to Northern Ireland) only 45 minutes away

  • Loch, sea and river fishing (the River Stinchar runs through the farm and free fishing can be arranged on this stretch which is at its best in September/October)

Forestry Commission Scotland has established part of Galloway Forest Park as the first Dark Sky Park in the UK. The best time to observe the stars in the night sky is between October and April.

NEARBY VILLAGES & TOWNS

  • Girvan (9 miles away) has a variety of shops, hotels and restaurants and swimming pool.
  • The town has the nearest petrol (gasoline) station to Glengennet.
  • Ayr (22 miles) has a much wider range of shops, facilities and hotels, plus a cinema and an ice rink.

AYRSHIRE EVENTS
Ayrshire Farmers Market - held on the first Saturday of the month (9am - 2pm). Around 30 stalls displaying large variety of locally produced food & drink in River Street, Ayr (between the old and new bridges).

Other regular events include Tea Dances at Troon Town Hall, Antique & Collectors Fairs in Ayr (last Sunday in the month), and a variety of entertainment at the Theatre in Ayr and the Concert Hall in Troon.
